Deer Hollow Farm, LLC is a family owned and operated business.  Phillip and Kathy Baird bring years of equine and livestock experience to the business.  They hope to encourage their son, Elijah and daughter, Maggie to love and enjoy the horse world as much as they do.  They owned & stood Rebel Rex Baird, a 1975 QH stallion for years, until he developed arthritis too bad to live cover.  Rebel was euthanized on July 1, 2008 at the age of 33, due to old age complications.  They currently own several performance bred horses, used primarily for ranch work.  Kathy Baird graduated from VA Tech in 1995 with a B.S. in Animal Science.  She worked throughout college as the assistant barn manager for the VA Tech Equine Breeding/Research Program.  Kathy interned at Granada Farms, Wheelock, Texas, a well know Quarter Horse Racing Stallion Station, handling and collecting stallions, breeding mares, and foaling mares.  She assisted and preformed veterinary procedures such as ETs, lavages, infusions, AI, caslick's, cultures, biopsies, blood draws, and hormonal evaluations.  She was the Wayward Wind Quarter Horse Farm barn manager, in charge of herd health, handling stallions, mare care, & yearling prep.  Kathy worked as a veterinary technician directly assisting with equine anesthesia, surgeries, blood collection, equine reproduction, and ambulatory calls. Phillip was raised on a crop and cattle farm in Morganfield, and his family bred and raised numerous Quarter Horses and Paints over the years.  Phillip is a full time farmer; he manages 150 Tarentaise and Tarentaise/Angus cross cows, and farms 1100 acres.  In 2007, he set the Kentucky State Record Soybean Yield at 94 bushels per acre. He was an avid calf and team roper, and still enjoys working with young horses and ranch horses.
